Combined Voices
"I enjoy singing songs for Images if the sheet music is from recent songs
on the radio," Deanne Henry, sr., said.
Memorizing sheet music and choreographic dance movements for the fall and
spring concerts are all part of the requirements for the Images, directed
by Dirk Colgrove and Theresa Steinlage. The Images memorized anything from
old time rock and roll songs like "Good Lovin" to recent country
songs like "Be My Baby Tonight."
"I like singing some of the country songs since they are written differently
for us to sing," Andy Steinlage, fr., said.
The sheet music for the Images to sing from are written to contain a combination
of sopranos, second sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses, which was a twist
from radio music written for the common single artist or a band of singers
with the same pitch.
"When some of the Images sang at the Father/KAY banquet, the songs sounded
a little different than the one played on the radio, but I still liked the
way they sang it," Julie Feldkamp, fr., said.
The Images performed in a varity of combinations. Some songs were sung by
the whole group, some with solos and duets, and some were sung in small groups
of four or five, as was the case with the Father/KAY banquet.
"I enjoyed singing at the Father/KAY banquet, even though I wasn't involved
in KAYs, since it seemed like the words held a special meaning to the KAYs
and fathers," Paul Murphy, jr., said.
The Images not only brought satisfaction to themselves by memorizing songs
and performing them, but also to the audiences who watched the choreographic
movements and listened to the verses of each and every song the Images performed.
