Singing Up a Storm
Have 18 people in our school gone totally crazy?
Singing and dancing early Thursday mornings and performing in front of a numerous amount of people at concerts? Is it only a case of dance fever? No, the disco era is gone. The infamous group of singers and dancers at our school was the Images.
Mr. Dirk Colgrove and Mrs. Theresa Steinlage held tryouts for Images before the season started. Many novices of our school decided to join. The newcomers of the squard got quite a surprise when they were awakened from sleep and kidnapped early one morning.
"I really enjoyed that Saturday morning in January when we got to go to the new Images members' homes and kidnap them. We took them to Kelly to Mrs. Steinlage's house for breakfast," Sarah Leseberg, soph., said.
The Images were also part of the school's musical, Damn Yankees. They helped in the chorus parts so that a number of voices were added.
Many of the Images would tell you that their favorite part of being in the group was performing at the concerts. At the Holiday Concert, selections ranged from "Merry Christmas With Love" to "Great Balls of Fire." At the Spring Concert, a medley of "Grease" songs were performed. Members of the community also asked the Images to perform for groups at local restaurants and for committees.
"My favorite song that we performed were the "Grease" songs. They were so much fun to learn and dance to because we had all heard them before," Cindy , fr., said.
