Making Music
Dancing with canes, taking guys out of the crowd to sing to, and grooving to that "Old Time Rock-N-Roll," were all things you could have seen the Images do if you had attended their concerts.
The Images definitely had a very productive year. They began by learning songs and singing at the Christmas concert in December. Then, they sang at the KAY Unit Conference for six different schools. Next, they moved on by learning more songs and choreographing them for the spring season.
In early May, the Images went on tour, by singing at the Country View Nursing Home, Central High School in western Kansas, Saints Peter and Paul Grade School, and Seneca Grade School. The songs sung included "Johnny Be Good," "Wind Beneath My Wings," a collection of swing and New York songs, and all female part featuring old songs that were sung to guys that the girls picked randomly out of the crowd, and "Old Time Rock-N-Roll."
Performing at the concerts and going on tour was definitely the best part of Images this year. It was a chance for us to have fun and for others to witness how much time and effort we put into performing," Cindy Glissman, jr., said.
So, you may be thinking that Images is all fun and no real work-simply performing at concerts and going on tour. But, it is in face more work than the students and directors receive credit for. If you are in Images, you were responsible for going to practice every Thursday at 7:00 in the morning beginning with the start of school and ending after the spring concert. At practice, the students worked on their songs and once they were learned, they practiced the choreography that was taught my Mr. Dirk Colgrove and Mrs. Teresa Steinlage.
"Learning the songs and choreography can be frustrating at times, but in the end, all the hard work definitely pays off and gives each of us something to be proud of," Kim Schultejans, jr., said.
