Vocal Music Dept. Excels

The NVHS Vocal Music Department, under the direction of Fred Helmink, had a year filled with excitement and success. All groups were kept very busy as they performed at four home concerts, at the League and State Festivals and at Audio House recording studio where they cut a full-length stereo album. Highlights of the year include getting 10 out of 14 I's at League, the Concert Choir getting the highest rating (1+) of any group at League, the Images 400 mile, two-day tour to seven schools in Kansas and Nebraska, and the superior rating given to the girls glee at the State Festival. This was the highest rating given to any large group from Nemaha Valley since 1972. A standing room only crowd attended the year end "Pops" Concert and Roger Todd was presented the award for the "Most Outstanding Senior Vocalist."
