It Up
To many people, making music is a form of enjoyment and relaxation.
Through concerts and contests, students involved in band, Images, and
Girls' Glee were able to let their musical talent shine.
The vocal music department participated in a number of concerts and
contests. Their first performance was at the Christmas concert where
the Images, Girls' Glee, and choir entertained the audience. They also
held a spring concert similar to the Christmas concert.
"I really enjoy music this year because we were able to sing a
number of current releases," said Christine Heideman, jr.
The next choir outing was to Cloud Community College Show Choir Festival.
While there, they watched singing groups from area schools perform.
The group did not participate, but each student learned techniques necessary
for a successful choir showing.
Next, they traveled to the league music festival at Hiawatha. The group
sang two songs and each piece was critiqued by a judge. The trip was
very successful.
"The results were beyond the goals I had set for the choir,"
said Theresa Steinlage, director.
The vocal music department was rewarded for their efforts with a trip
to Worlds of Fun.
