Singers
Succeed Under New Leadership
There
was truth behind the saying, "A choir is only as good as its weakest
member." It took patience, effort, and cooperation from everyone to
make a combination of voices that blended together beautifully.
With a new vocal teacher, Dirk Colgrove, and the absence of males, the vocalists
were determined to work together and sing better than ever. With this determination,
the choir accomplished much.
"Our singing really improved and we were singing songs that we would
never have sung the year before," said Tanya Mitchell, soph.
The vocalists learned to read music better, sing a capella (without piano),
and songs in Latin.
A great experience for some vocalists was the Doane Vocal Festival. Only
a chosen few attended this two-day clinic at Doane College in Nebraska.
In addition to working hard, it was a time for meeting new people and having
fun.
"I enjoyed performing in front of a big audience," said Kim Stuke,
fr.
There was great potential for the choir. With many novices, the vocalists
had high hopes for future years.
