Hitting the Right Notes

Music is something that can be found almost anywhere you go. It is what brings together the most diverse of people, or helps you boogie down at a dance. It is something that we all have experienced, whether it be when we are belting out tunes in the shower or rocking out on the drums. Music is part of all our lives, and when it comes together in harmony, it can sound perfect. However, the task of making harmony is another story.
The subjects of band and vocal depend on three main steps: practice, practice, practice! Everyday, the students involved in band and vocal go through their pieces of music continously, working together to reach flawless tunes.
The music and songs played by the students are chosen by band and vocal teacher, Mrs. Gartner. Every year new pieces are chosen to try and bring new excitement and fun to the performers and audience.
"I try to select music pieces that are fresh and exciting, and are pieces that I think the students would really enjoy," said Mrs. Gartner.
Both band and vocal take the skills of being precise and accurate to make the wonderful sounds we hear from them each year. It can be hard to stick with it and continue to practice non-stop, but the NV band and vocal members say that it's the greatest music of all when they hit the right notes.
