"Play something Ed!" Esste Carmichael, (Julie, sr.), whirls across the stage while her husband, Ed, (Jeff, sr.) accompanies her on the xylophone.

On November 12-14, anyone who ventured backstage before the production of "You Can't Take It With You" found it was a flurry of activity. The stage crew busily checked to make sure all props were in their place. Cast members nervously paced the gym. This was the culmination of many long nights and early mornings preparing for the big night.

"I was nervous on opening night, but it was worse the night of the dinner theatre because there were so many people," said Matt, fr.

"You Can't Take It With You," Directed by Cathy, centered around one outrageous family -- the Sycamores. Alice Sycamore was the one sane member of this crazy family that included a ballet-dancing sister and a father that built fireworks. The plot unfolded as Alice brings home her boyfriend, Tony Kirby, and his parents to meet the family. The off-the-wall activities of Sycamores led to a night the Kirby's would never forget.

Two hours, a few explosions, and many laughs later, 21 actors and actresses breathed a sigh of relief. They could tell from the audience's reaction that they had achieved something special. They had entertained.

"I'll never forget when Meghan missed the dartboard completely and hit the door instead. It was so hard to keep a straight face," said Michelle, jr.

Everyone that had a part in the production of "You Can't Take It With You" took with them many lasting memories of fun times, embarrassing miscues, and a fine performance. The memory that stayed the longest was the memory of the applause from the audience that was their reward for all their efforts.
