Cast and crew members of the production "Zi House Zoo" discovered that the more amusing aspects of the play came not from the words set down from an unknown playwright, but in the actors and actresses' interpretations of it. "Zi House Zoo," a comedy, was about the Zita Zita Zita sorority's fight to remain on campus despite the efforts of mean Dean Crampotts and the snooty rival sorority, the Tri-Pi's.
"It seemed like each night was a different play, because of all the improvising we did," Brandy, sr., said.
Each person associated with the production, which was directed by Cathy and Vonda, will remember not only the actual performances but the hilarious moments at the many practices leading up to the big nights leading up to the big nights. Between Dooley's practical jokes, Miss Pitts' skating ability, or lack thereof, and Slug's changing injuries, many laughs were shared by the 41 members of cast and crew.
"The funniest part was watching Cindy come out with a different injury each practice, especially when she had a stump for an arm," Eric, soph., said.
The audience shared many laughs during the play's tour performances. The production opened with a Thursday matinee for the junior high, followed by a performance for the community that night. With Friday night came the annual dinner theatre, which was sold out for the fourth consecutive year. The finale came on Saturday with another open performance, followed by a party for the cast and crew.
Whether from a seat in the audience or a place in the spotlight, all experienced humor and entertainment. But only those that were a part of the play could witness the humor that was not the obvious.
