After Joan wrapped up "Play On", she began to wonder "What next?" She decided that it was time to change the all-school play into a musical. She chose "Damn Yankees as the annual performance.

Many students were against the idea at first. After the interest meeting, though, many of them changed their minds. The major misconception was that all of the parts were singing parts. In the production, many of the parts weren't singing characters or could be changed to speaking parts.

With the help of Dirk, Joan chose the cast for the musical. It included veterans of the stage and many fresh faces.

"I did not have a very big part, but I enjoyed all of the practices. We all got along well and had fun in practice," Angie, soph. said.

The "Damn Yankees" cast had to practice even harder than in the past. They had to be prepared to practice all their lines and songs. Joan also had to add morning practices to the schedule in order to be ready by opening night.

"It was very hard waking up on Monday and Wednesday morning early enough to be here for practice. We were all a little dazed for awhile, but in the end, all that practicing was worth it," Myka, soph., said.

The play was very successful and many people agreed that the change was for the better. The cast and crew had a great time and were pleased with their results. After all these changes, everyone has been left wondering "What next?"
