After the dress rehearsal, the play cast takes time to pose for a picture. Back Row: Kevin, jr., Mark, sr., Toby, sr., Chad, sr., Buddy, jr. Front Row: Myka, jr., Jill, jr., and Anne, soph.
Jill, sr., and Anne, soph., work on their lines at practice. Lines had to be learned more quickly than in the past years because of the limited time, so the cast soon learned that they couldn't rely on the play books for long.

The play cast and crew found out how stressful being a star could be. Within a month's time jobs including selecting cast, learning lines, rehearsing, and perfecting lines, finding costumes to fit an 1800's Russian time period, and building a set had to be done.

"We weren't sure if we would get to have a play this year because Ms. Valburg left and we didn't have a director. Steve volunteered, though, and they play went on for another year," Toby, sr., said.

Anne, soph., played Raina, a dreamy, rich, Russian girl. The first act takes place in her bedroom, where we also meet her mother Katherine (Jill, jr.) and Louka, the family's maid (Myka, jr.). There is a war occurring outside of the house. Deserting his calvary, Buntschli (Chad, sr.) climbs into Raina's bedroom. A soldier (Buddy, jr.) comes into Raina's bedroom, warning the three women that a man had been seen climbing the balcony to her room. Raina assure him that there is no one in the room, but only Louka knows the truth, as she is sort of a spy on Raina. The second act introduces Nicola, (Toby, sr.) who is also a family servant and engaged to Louka. Later on, Paul Petkoff (Kevin, jr.) comes back from the war. Major Sergius Saranoff (Mark, sr.) comes to the family home. He is engaged to Raina. The plot deepens as Louka and Sergius fall in love, breaking her engagement with Nicola. Not everyone loses, however, for Raina and Bluntschli are together at the end.

"It took a lot of dedication for all of us to get everything read in time. We had to give up some weeknights and stay up late to get our homework done when it came down to that final week of play practice," Mark, sr., said.
