Tryouts are held at the end of the year around March.
Anyone wishing to tryout will learn one full routine (about two minutes
long) choreographed and taught by the graduating seniors. This routine
will be taught one week prior to tryouts. It will incorporate jazz,
pom, kick, and hip hop. A fundamentals session will also be held to
teach first time dancers the basics of turns, leaps, and kicks.
A short routine will be taught on the day of tryouts.
It will be about eight to twelve 8-counts long.
Each girl will perform both routines in front of a panel
of judges in groups of three. They will be judged on appearance, adherence
to safety regulations, personality, projection, confidence, eye contact,
kicks, leaps, turns, precision of motions, timing/rhythm, and knowledge
of sequence.
No more than twelve girls will be selected and they
are announced a few hours after tryouts are over.
