Student Council Leads The Way

As early as July, the Student Council officers were preparing for the forthcoming school year. The officers attended Emporia State Student Council Camp July 29-August 3. At camp the officers gained many new ideas for improving the council.
Again, Homecoming was successful through the help of the council. The Raider Olympics, an idea from camp, was enjoyed by the entire student body.
This year the purchase of a Raider mascot was made possible through Student Council. Although the mascot was a whopping $700, Stuco was able to complete payment within the year. Alan Lierz, NV senior, wore the mascot costume to numerous games. The mascot added spirit to NV sporting events.
Student Council added to the festivities of the Christmas season. A drawing was held, and three nice prizes were given to the lucky students.
Also, Student Council was active in reinstating "break" for the student body. Student Council also had input in discussing school curriculum. Overall, Student Council accomplished much throughout the year.
