Batteries
Not Included
Everyone
at some time or another has purchased a mechanism that needs batteries
in order to run. This average, ordinary customer would not realize this
until after they had been home and needed to use it, that batteries
were not included. The mechanism would then sit and go unused.
At the beginning of the year, Student Council felt the same way as the
mechanism; they didn't know where or how to start. They needed to be
energized. So in order to start, the StuCo officers met and welcomed
the whole school back in an assembly. Things began to flow with excellent
leadership. Homecoming was next and off with a big success.
"I felt privileged to be part of a group which made major decisions
that affected the whole student body," Trudy Terpening, soph.,
said.
This club, which is designed to help the student body did just that
and purchased a new sign for the front of the school. During Christmas,
StuCo adopted a family and purchased and wrapped items that were sent
to the needy family. Movies were provided for a fun afternoon before
Christmas break, along with a drawing for prizes, which Santa Claus
attended. Students were then treated to pop and candy canes.
"I was glad to see that StuCo did new things and was giong for
a new change," Julie Bergman, sr., said.
To bring the year to a close, StuCo treated the student body to chocolate
bunnies during Easter and held a 50's Sock Hop.
Just as the battery ran the mechanism, hard work and leadership ran
StuCo. So just as the battery has been used to its potential and is
slowed, StuCo has also drawn to a close and tied everything up with
a big ribbon which says, "Energized, Successful, and Memories Made
Forever 1992-1993."
