Worth Mentioning

Student Council. Upon mentioning these words students stare blankly, unsure of what that person is talking about. Most students don't know exactly what Student Council does or what it stands for.
Student Council is a group of students who represent the student body and help to bring change in the school environment. The major activity that StuCo was in charge of was Homecoming, and this year was no exception in keeping the great tradition alive.
"Being a freshman makes it hard to get involved. At first I didn't know a thing about StuCo, but now I understand what's happening and it's fun," Lisa Hermesch, fr., said.
Not only did StuCo provide activities for the students and take on the responsibility for the candy and pop machines, but during Christmas they gave to the newly organized Christmas House operated by the NEK-CAP for needy families in Nemaha County.
"Although StuCo doesn't get much recognition, they have major responsibilities; and they take them on well," Katie, sr., said.
Something worth mentioning besides the usual was that StuCo tried to bring the "invisible kid" out. Their goal was to make all students feel part of the school atmosphere. Every student at Nemaha Valley High School was given a chance at great opportunities and each excelled to their potential by giving to the school what they wanted to get out of it.
