Creating
Future Leaders
The
back-to-school dance, spirit week, the tailgate supper, the Homecoming
dance- these are just a few of the many things Student Council was in
charge of.
Student Council consisted of the normal officers, two representatives
from every class, and a representative from the other organizations, like
KAYs, SADD, and National Honor Society. The sponsors were Cathy Enneking,
head, and Dirk Colgrove, assistant.
The members of Student Council definitely had a hard job. They had to
do everything they could to keep students happy. They were in charge of
most of the student body events. If a student had a problem or a suggestion
as to how something should be done, they went to someone on Student Council.
The suggestion was then considered and talked about at one of their meetings.
"Student Council is an organization that definitely gets you involved
with the school. The activities we plan take a lot of leadership and hard
work," Shayla Roland, fr., said.
Most of the activities Student Council put on definitely took lots of
time and hard work. Students who took part in Student Council spent a
lot of their time working on these various events. One major set of events
that Student Council put on was the Homecoming activities and the dance.
Student Council was responsible for everything dealing with Homecoming-
from getting all of the spirit week activities planned to scheduling the
dance.
"This year's Homecoming, for me, was one of the least stressful because
I had great officers who stepped forward and took on a lot of the responsibilities,"
Cathy Enneking, sponsor, said.
Without the Student Council, our school would not be the same. Often,
we take for granted the things that Student Council does, like keeping
the candy machines filled and serving food to the whole student boy at
the tailgate supper.
