Succeeding in cross coutnry is not always as easy as it seems. along with the many miles of running each day, which totaled more than 1000 miles for the entire team, the cross country runners must also lift weights and develop their sprinting.

"The most important thing I've learned about cross country is that you have to stick with it and not give up, even if you don't succeed," said Cassie

Sucess for the cross country runners did not come easily this year due to the lack of numbers. Neither the boys nor the girls were able to compete as a team. The most successful runner this year was Cassie sr. Clark qualified for the state meet for the third year in a row, but as she learned, it was not easy to succeed year after year.

"My biggest fear at the beginning of the year was that I wouldn't be able to compete with some of the other good runners in the league," said Clark.

The girls' team has the potential to be solid next year if they can recruit enough runners to make a team, but again, the future of the boys' team remains to be seen. - Jason
