When the varsity boys' basketball team started the season out with no returning starters and only 3 seniors, it appeared that the season could be a long one.

After their first fourteen games, the Raiders had an even record of 7-7.The second half of the season proved to be more exciting for the Raiders. They finished their last ten games with a record of 9-1, placed second in the Raider Classic, finished 3rd in the Big Seven League race, and were sub-state champions.

The road to state was a long and hard one. The Raiders defeated Alma-Wabunsee in the first round of play by a score of 57-47. They then went on to face the top ranked team in 3A, Rock Creek. They defeated them 58-53 in overtime. The Raiders then had to face the Tigers from ACCHS, a team that had defeated them in both previous meetings. By a score of 65-47, the varsity team earned the right to play in the state tournament in Hutchinson.

The Raiders played Medicine Lodge, the eventual state champions, in the first round. After a tough battle, the Raiders lost 42-44 due to a heart-breaking last second shot.

The varsity boys' basketball team made a season turnaround to be proud of. The players can definitely look back on the athletic accomplishments they made and the lessons they learned about themselves and be proud to call the season a success.
