To any athletic team, no matter what the sport, all the games are crucial, but for the varsity boys basketball team, three games proved to be the decider.

The Raiders pulled into Meridan prepared and confident to play Jeff West. It was a hard battle, but the Tigers were just too much to overcome. They handed the Raiders their second loss of the season by the score of 65-40.

The Raiders then went 8-1 in their next nine games en route to their next meeting with the Tigers. It turned out that their next encounter would be the determining factor for the league championship.

The Raiders were prepared this time, shutting down the Tigers' best shooters and dominating the game. Nemaha Valley pulled off the upset by the score of 63-57 in overtime, helping to make them the Big 7 League champions, with the record of 19-4.

On the shoulders of their last game rode the chances of making it to State or coming home empty-handed. Nemaha Valley held the first place seed with Jeff West in the second place slot. The two teams would face each other once again in the sub-state championship.

Jeff West jumped out to an early lead, but the Raiders came back. However, the final score had the Raiders on the short end of the stick, ending their hopes of making it to State.
