The Nemaha Valley golf team had a great season. They captured a 2nd place finish in the Class 3-2-1A grass green golf tournament at Hesston. The team finished with a four-man score of 348 while Hesston, the state champions, compiled a 337. Sublette was third in the tournament with a 349. The individual scores by the six Raider golfers included Mark Sample who shot a 42-40 (82), which captured a tie for the individual 2nd place finish. Darren Brinker shot a 43-43 (86); Bob Robke had a 43-47 (90); and Brad Henry had a 49-41 (90), to round out the four top golfers for the Raiders. The two golfers for the Raiders who also golfed but whose scores were not used in the final results were Jerry Robke, who shot a 41-50 (91) and Ron Murphy, who shot a 43-51 (94). The season was very successful for the Raiders with several medals being brought home from the tournaments. The golf season closed too quickly for the state golfers, but their great year will never be forgotten.
