The small golf ball soared through the air and landed softly on the grass. Golf can be a relaxing sport, but it is more difficult to learn than it is sometimes realized. The combination of hand-eye coordination and mental concentration contributes to a strong and steady swing that leads the ball towards its destination. "I like being known as an individual, as well as part of the team, because you know you are out to medal individually and also help the team at the same time," Steven Rusche, fr., said. With skill and practice, the golf team came into the season with one important goal--qualifying for State. The golfers competed successfully and placed first at their first tournament held at Washington. The golf team's success continued. For Jason Nordhus, sr., Travis Niehues, sr., Ryan Robke, jr., K.C. Boeckman, jr., Steven Rusche, fr., and Mike Hynek, fr., a great accomplishment was made. They took first place at regionals and qualified for State. This had not occurred for two years. The team placed fourth with 348 points. Individually, Niehues tied for tenth with 82 points. "It was a privilege to be chosen for Regionals and State because I felt that it proves that I was one of the top six golfers. All of the hard work paid off," said K.C. Boeckman, jr.
