Persistent Playing

This year’s golf team had high expectations coming into the season, after returning five varsity lettermen from last year. The team knew they had to stick to their fundamentals and perform well in each and every tournament.
“I knew coming into the season we had the talent. It was a matter of shooting scores that we were capable of in tournament play.” Coach Rick Hynek said.
The Raider Golf team was made up of six members on the varsity team and six members on the junior varsity team. To be on the golf team each team member must play qualifying rounds to decide who the team consists of.
Each night after school the golf team practiced at the golf course by doing various techniques. The golf members either worked on their fundamentals on the practice green, or went out on the course and played nine holes.
This year’s varsity golf team performed much more consistent scores as a team than in past years. Every member of the varsity team was capable of very good rounds. The junior varsity has had its share of good and bad rounds, but improved as the season progressed.
The 2004 golf season was short, but sweet. Many new members participated this year and improved as the year went on. The team expects to build on this year and perform better next year.
