As the 2001 track season slowly started, each track member began preparing for the upcoming meets. Whether it was a throwing, running, or jumping event, each individual had to work hard so they could compete with their fullest potential. "With some of the practices being extremely hot, and seeming extremely long, it was hard to not just give up and quit. But after you start improving little by little, you gain a sense of accomplishment and pride," said Lindsay , soph. The NV track team really did improve from start to finish, sending 11 team members to state, and 9 of those placing: the boys 4x800 relay 2nd, the boys 4x400 relay 5th, Ryan 1600 5th, Jared Niehues Javelin 5th, Loren Javelin 6th, Olivia Discus 1st, and Jamie Shot Put 3rd. The track team pulled together at state and really impressed everyone, especially the coaches. "Even though we didn't send as many teammates to state as we have in the past, we still ended with a successful season and knowledge for next year," said track coach Mr. Lizzol. The entire track team worked hard from beginning to end, improving after each meet. They held their expectations high, proving that with confidence, they could end their season full speed ahead.
