As a coach I was tremendously impressed with the dedication and desire shown by the team." This comment by coach Hynek succinctly expressed his appreciation of the 1982-3 Nemaha Valley Wrestling squad. This four-member squad, composed of Jeff , Greg Curt , and Max , competed successfully during the course of the year, and sent two team members to Sub-State and one member to State.

Jeff ended his first wrestling season with a record of 7-12, while Greg's efforts in his novice year resulted in a 0-15 record. Max who earned a rather fruiful indiviual season, finished his fourth year of wrestling at Sub-State with and overall record of 14-11. And Curt, who succeeded in clenching such awards as first place at Regionals and third place at Sub-State, ended his wrestling year by battling his way into the top six of the 16 best wrestlers at the State tournament. During his rounds at State, Curt injured his shoulder; but rather than default, Curt chose to continue wrestling, and later ended his second year of wrestling with a 25-8 record.

Overall, Coach Hynek found this past wrestling year to be a very enjoyable experience. Mr. Hynek supplemented this reflection with his final observation: "For the most part I think each individual achieved some goal or goals and as a coach, I hope that they have benfited in some way for having participated in wrestling this year."
