It's not every year that a school is privileged by having a wrestler capture a state championship in a weight class. But that is exactly what happened this year as Matt Koehler defeated Darren Weber of Pleasan Ridge to wrap up 167 pound Kansas 3A weight class. Matt finished with a record of 20-3 and 139.5 team points. Brad Steinlage, a freshman, also represented the school at Fort Hay's State. Brad finished as one of the top six finalists in the 119 weight class overall, he finished 16-8. Other wrestlers turned in fine performances for the squad. These included Dan Holthaus, who finished 5-9 for the season and Chris Altenhofen, who finished at 5-10. Both wrestled at 112 weight class.

Even though there were no seniors on the team, next year's squad looks promising as the bulk of the team will be returning.
