The season started out dreary for the NV wrestling squad when they competed against ACCHS and Royal Valley for their first matches of the year. The wrestlers performed well against Royal Valley, but were flogged by leaguer power ACCHS. The team knew after that match that it would take hard work and an animal attitude to become respected.

"I thought it was going to be a long season after the ACCHS match. However, it ended being fun and successful," said Jason Hammes, fr.

Nemaha Valley ended up having a successful season placing sixth at regionals and sending three to state competition. Brad Steinlage placed first at regionals and third at state. Tom Hilbert and Chris Ramsey placed third and fourth at regionals.

The squad consisted of nine members. Jeff Allen, Dan Holthaus and Steve Haug showed senior leadership and hard work habits. Brad Steinlage was the brightest spot on the team compiling a 28-2 record. Tom Hilbert, Chris Ramsey, Joe Clark, Jason Hammes, and Aaron Bain proved to be the building blocks for the Nemaha Valley wrestling program.

"After competing in state, I can't wait for the next year to have a chance to improve and maybe even place in the top four at state," said Chris Ramsey, so.
